residential extension structural engineer

My initial enquiry went to Jayne who was very helpful as was Nadine and Dan further down the line. I was kept informed what was to happen and when as I’d opted for a virtual inspection by Robert. I cannot fault the service I received as I’d asked for a speedy report and it was delivered right on time which enabled my work to continue on schedule. I would not hesitate recommending Simply Engineering to anybody as I found them all very helpful to a complete novice like myself.

From my first point of contact, everything was seamless. The Structural Engineer who attended my property was Tim, he was extremely friendly and professional, he listened to what I wanted and without any issues supplied me with a very detailed report. This was submitted to building control and was passed without any amendments. I would not hesitate in recommending Simplify Structural Engineers to anyone. Thank you for a faultless service.

Fantastic company, professional, polite and competitive price for the report. The engineer, Robert Hardman, was great. Professional and took his time to explain everything and reassured us. Reception staff are also very friendly and always happy to help. Would definitely use again and recommend. Thank you Simplify!

Simplify Structural Engineering are absolutely fantastic and I’d absolutely recommend them. They’ve provided the drawings and calculations for several internal/external wall knock throughs, chimney breast removals and two basement conversions. This included underpinning calculations and tanking/drainage solutions. All designs have worked fantastically with no issues at all. Robert and his teams knowledge across all areas of construction is second to none. As is there knowledge of building materials allowing them to offer cost effective solutions to any problems encountered during the builds. Great communication and very reasonably priced- could not recommend more highly!

Sample Projects – Structural Engineer Derby:

Extensions & Alterations:

Stenson Road, Derby – The client required a structural engineer to provide calculations for the removal of external walls. A site visit was arranged to confirm dimensions and floor joist directions.

Kerry Street, Derby – a residential property owner required a structural engineer to assist with his project. We were engaged to design a steel beam with a partial plate to support the chimney stack above.

Aston Lane, Shardlow – a residential property owner had architectural plans and required structural calculations for their internal alterations. A site visit was arranged to confirm dimensions and floor joist directions.

Park Lane, Allestree – a residential property owner provided architectural plans and required structural calculations for their rear extension and internal alterations.

Reginald Road South, Derby – a residential property owner had architectural plans and required a structural engineer to assist with his rear extension including a mezzanine floor. We were hired to design a steel beam to create an opening from the existing structure into the new extension, and also a new ridge beam for a vaulted extension roof.

Bondgate, Castle Donnington – a residential property owner provided architectural plans and required structural calculations for their rear extension and internal alterations. We also designed a steel beam with a partial plate to support the chimney stack above.

Pre-purchase Structural Reports:

Burton Road, Derby – a house seller required a structural report as they had concerns regarding external wall cracks and suspected subsidence. Based on our findings the cracks were caused by the historic settlement of the porch.

Ruskin Road, Derby – a property buyer’s surveyor requested a structural engineer to check for movement. Some cracking was observed by did not indicate any movement of the primary structure. However, the cracks at the junction of the original building and extension indicate that some minor movement is taking place. We provided a structural report with findings and recommendations, which was approved by our Chartered Engineer.

Park Lane, Castle Donnington – a client required a structural report as they had concerns regarding external wall cracks. We also observed that the roof had some signs of weathering and some ponding of water on the extension roof. Simplify Engineering provided a report with findings and recommendations and a mortgage was granted.

Commerce Street, Melbourne – a property buyer’s surveyor requested a structural engineer to check for movement. We observed on site that the roof rafters appeared to be sagging in places. We recommended that collar ties were to be installed on every other roof rafter. We also observed cracks in the vicinity of the archway. Simplify Engineering provided a report with findings and recommendations, and a mortgage was granted.

Far Laund, Belper – A potential buyer required a structural engineer to check the steel frame extension at the property. Water stains were observed on the timber cladding caused by water draining along the walls above door openings. We recommended that water-resistant sealants should prevent further stains.
